The Kokoberrin People welcome continued engagement with the Queensland Government other agencies and organisations for all Land and Natural Resource Management planning, water allocation, infrastructure, environmental management, economid developmen, arts and culural practices and or policy processes that may affect Kokoberrin People, Country and waters.

All future engagement concerning Kokoberrin Country, cultural water, sacred and restricted waters, water allocation, cultural knowledge, clan estates, cultural heritage or proposed development affecting Kokoberrin waters should be directed in the first instance to the Kowanyama PBC attention to the authorised Kokoberrin representative body, Kokoberrin Tribal Aboriginal Corporation.

Government agencies, consultants, proponents and other parties should not approach individual Kowanyama PBC members or Directors, Kokoberrin Elders, families or cultural knowledge holders independently regarding matters contained in this report without first contacting the authorised Kokoberrin representative.

Where a matter relates to a particular clan estate, sacred or restricted water, cultural site, story place or specialised cultural knowledge, the Kokoberrin People will determine the appropriate Elder, clan representative or knowledge holder to participate in that engagement.

Ongoing engagement

Kokoberrin People request early and continuing engagement, rather than consultation after planning or development decisions have substantially been made. Engagement should recognise Kokoberrin cultural authority, clan-based governance and the principle that our cultural ontology require additional protections.
